$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Russell Youngken (Levittown, PA)
$6,927

Blinds are up to 50k/100k with 10k ante.

John DeGeorge opened from the middle, then Russell Youngken shoved from the button for 435k total.

Ben Butler (bb) called, as did John.

On the flop of K 8 4 with two diamonds, Ben bet 250k.  John folded.

Russell rolled over AQ off.  Ben had him crushed with pocket 4s that had flopped a set.

The last two were T 5 and the big stack got bigger.

Russell Youngken finished in 8th place, earning $6,927.

Event 11: 17th Place - Nagata

Aleksandr gave it some thought, then made the call.

Angel's pocket 9s were racing against QT suited.

The board came T 5 5 4 2 and Aleksandr took the pot, chipping up to ~3.1 million.

Angel Gonzalez finished in 9th place, earning $4,786.

Event 10: 13th-18th ($784)

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

16 Rashad Maysand (Springfield, VA)
15 Ryan Schroeder (Ridgeville, OH)
14 Felipe Villagran (New York, NY)
13 Jonathan Del Rossi (Mantua, NJ)

Event 7: Double, Double

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Angel Gonzalez got his last 370k all-in pre-flop and called by big stack Ben Butler.

Angel's A9 suited was dominated by AK, but the board came T T 9 7 2 and Angel doubled up to over 800k.  Ben still had about 6 million.

Then it was Jason Edelman's turn.  He was all-in for 925k and called by Rick Rossetti in the small blind.

Jason's pocket 8s were crushed by Rick's pocket Queens.  The board came T 3 2 4 5 with four clubs, and Jason had the only club.  Jason doubled up to over 1.9 million.  Rick was left with ~900k.

Event 7: 10th Place - Blaszczak

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Kamil Blaszczak (Ridgewood, NY)
$3,149

Kamil Blaszczak raised to ~200k from the button and Ben Butler (sb) three-bet with a stack of pink 100,000 chips that looked like more than 1 million.

Kamil moved the last of his chips in and showed pocket Kings.  Ben had AT offsuit.

The flop was a King-killer:  T T 3.  Ben's trips took the lead.

The last two were 9 Q and no good for Kamil.  He hit the rail in 10th place ($3,149).

Ben's big stack got bigger.

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

The final table has relocated to The Boardroom, the Ultra-high limit room in the back of the poker room.  Play has resumed.

19 Andrew Carnevale (Conshohocken, PA)

Event 11: Money Time!

$260 + $40 Seniors No Limit Hold'em

Michael Mauro (Chatham, NJ) is the unfortunate bubble boy, but he doesn't leave disappointed as one player gives him a hardy handshake on his way out the door.

The final 18 players are on break as the purple (500) chips are colored-up.

Event 10: A Good Spot...Normally

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

With blinds at 8k/16k Mark Salem had been raising a number of pots, and continued that trend on this particular hand.  He made it 40k, and was met by an all-in from Felipe Villagran (Long Island, NY).  It was another 227k for Mark to call, and he took a significant amount of time to make his decision.  Felipe was doing a lot of talking while Salem was in the tank, and Salem was doing a lot of talking to himself.  Salem decided to call and tabled his 9 9, and he was up against the A 9 of Villagran.  Not a bad spot to be in for Salem, but he ended up drawing dead on the flop of A A 8.  Villagran scoops up the sizable pot, and sits with over 500k.

Event 7: Final Table Chip Counts

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

The final ten players with their seat assignments and rough chip counts:

1 - Rick Rossetti - 1.9 million
2 - Russell Youngken - 1 million
3 - Angel Gonzalez - 600k
4 - Jordan Ludwick - 1.7 million
5 - Kamil Blaszczak -  2 million
6 - Ben Butler - 3 million
7 - Jason Edelman - 1.4 million
8 - Gregory Shvartz - 2.6 million
9 - John DeGeorge - 1.9 million
10 - Aleksandr Rapoport - 2.1 million

Average stack is 1.85 million.

They completed the 30k/60k level without anyone busting out, then took a break.

Event 10: Slowing Down The Pace

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Things have certainly come to a screeching halt since the bubble bursted, as we still sit with 24 players.  Our the biggest stacks left belong to:

Paul Vacchio - 515,000
Chris Arnken - 480,000
Ruslan Allakhveranov - 600,000

Event 7: 12th - Agaev; 11th - Fyke

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Adam Agaev (Brooklyn, NY) & Christian Fyke (Monroeville, PA)
$3,149

In another battle of the blinds, Adam Agaev (sb) was all-in pre-flop and at risk against Aleksandr Rapoport (bb).

Adam held 95 off.  Aleksandr held AK suited.

The flop came T 8 7, giving Adam an open-ended straight draw, but the last two fell 4 3 and were no help to Adam.  He busted out in 12th place ($3,149).

Aleksandr chipped up to ~2.2 million.

In another blind battle, Christian Fyke (bb) was all-in against John DeGeorge (sb).  Christian had QT suited and was dominated by John's KQ suited.

The board ran out A 5 3 A 9 and John took the pot with King-high.

Christian finished in 11th place ($3,149).

The final ten drew for seats and moved to the final table.

Event 7: 14th - M. Rodriguez; 13th - Yoo

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Mario Rodriguez (Jersey City, NJ) & Byung Yoo (Norwood, NJ)
$2,267

Nearly simultaneous all-ins and bust-outs!

In a battle of the blinds, Jordan Ludwick (sb) and Mario Rodriguez (bb) got all the chips in the middle.  Jordan's pocket Queens were way ahead of Mario's pocket 7s.  The board came J 8 4 4 A and Jordan took the pot, chipping up to over 1.6 million.

Mario busted out in 14th place, earning $2,267.

On the other table, Byung Yoo was all-in holding pocket 8s against Kamil Blaszczak's pocket Kings.  The board fell T 6 4 4 5 and Kamil chipped up to ~2 million.

Yoo busted out in 13th place, good for $2,267.

Event 11: Seniors Still Grinding

$260 + $40 Seniors No Limit Hold'em

27 seniors remain as the money is in sight (18 cash). The average stack is 78k (16 BB) as blinds are moving up to 2,500/5k/500 ante.

Event 10: Bubble Bursts

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Our bubble boy was all in for his last 30500, and was called by the button and the small blind.  After a flop of 2s 7h 4s it went check-check.  The turn brought the Qh, and the button (who asked to be referenced as "Cambyman") fired out 60k.  The small blind folded, and it was Camby's Q J against the 6 6 of our anonymous bubble boy.  A river 5c couldn't help his cause, and all the players remaining are now in the money.

Event 7: 15th Place - Mitchell

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

John Mitchell (Media, PA)
$2,267

Blinds are up to 30k/60k with 5k ante.

On a flop of A Q 9, John Mitchell was all-in holding AK (top/top) but had been out-flopped by Ben Butler's AQ (top two).

The last two came 7 9 and were no help for John.  He hit the rail in 15th place ($2,267).

Ben chipped up to ~3.5 million, good for the chip lead.

Event 10: Hand-for-Hand-for-Hand...

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Hand-for-hand play has been ongoing for 40+ minutes through the entire 3k/6k/500 ante level.

Three players have doubled-up in that time.

Felipe Villagran (Hicksville, NY) dodged the biggest bullet when he was dominated with top pair against a set of threes, but Villagran goes runner-runner for the flush and the 168k double-up.

Also surviving their all-ins: Ryan Schroeder (Cleveland, OH) when he doubles through Villagran with two pairs, and Dan Stein (Valley Stream, NY) who survives with pocket jacks.

Play continues at 4k/8k/1k ante.

Event 7: 16th Place - S. Rodriguez

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Steven Rodriguez (Staten Island, NY)
$1,562

Steven Rodriguez got his chips in the middle holding pocket Jacks and was racing against the KQ of Aleksandr Rapoport.

Aleksandr caught a Queen on the turn to take the lead and Steven was busted.  He finished 16th for $1,562.

15 players remain.  Average stack is 1.2 million.

All In or Fold!

7 pm tournament

Newhouse Celebrates as Dever (left) & Pickell Cheer

While all three main events are on dinner break, the fun continues in the Poker Room with the first All In or Fold tournament.

At one of the more raucous tables, Borgata regulars Cathy Dever (Ephrata, PA) and Lisa Pickell (Brick, NJ) cheer on Tyler Newhouse (New York, NY) who is left with a chip and a chair.

The field is more than 100 strong and there's still a line at the registration window.

Event 10: A Miracle Times Two

Nikki DiFransesco (Connecticut)

From the book of things you're likely to see once in a lifetime, we had a three way all in as we passed one of the remaining tables in the event.  It was the Ac 8c of Nikki DiFransesco, along with the K K and Kd Jd of her opponents:

Flop: 6d 5d 2d

The player holding Kd Jd had just hit gold with that flop, and had both Nikki and the other player in the hand covered.  Nikki began to pack her things:

Turn: 3d

An interesting turn, but just how many times do we always see some sort of sweat in these all in hands?

River: 4d

Nikki's excitement could definitely be heard by the surrounding tables, as the three players were now left to chop the pot.  It's unlikely anyone at the table will ever see something like that happen again, and DiFransesco was quick to text her rail.

Event 7: New Chip Leader

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Rick Rossetti (Ventnor, NJ)

We walked over as the turn was be peeled on an 3 4 A 6 board, and all the chips were in the middle between Rick Rossetti and "Player X."  When the cards were turned over it was the A A of Rossetti against his opponents 8 8.  Rossetti was at risk but couldn't lose the hand, and became the chip leader with that monstrous pot.  He sits with 1.4 million and may still be stacking the pile of chips as we type away.

"All In Or Fold:" No Other Options

It's not uncommon for Borgata to provide a "first time occurrence" when it relates to the Borgata Poker Room.  Tonight at 7:00 pm will be the inaugural "All In Or Fold" tournament ($150 + 30 + 20 Yellow Chip Bounty NLH).  It plays exactly how it sounds, you either fold or go all in.  An "All In or Fold tournament can be one fun tournament to play.  However, playing in this type of poker tournament takes skill like any other tournament. While many players may think it is all luck with these types of tournaments, they are completely wrong. Cards always fall how they fall. It's either your in the hand or not that will push your chip stack higher or get knocked out of the tournament.  We will be keeping our eye on this one as the night progresses.

Event 7: Final Four Tables

Event 11: Flexing His Muscles

$260 + $40 Seniors No Limit Hold'em

Tony "Muscles" Campagna

That title fits literally and figuratively as Tony "Muscles" Campagna is one of the top stacks in the tournament, sitting with just under 70k.  Over this past weekend, Tony took down 1st place in the NPC Long Island Bodybuilding Championships (Men's Over 50).  He's hoping for two trophies in one week, and at this rate may be able to back up the talk.  On a side note, his wife (Joy Campagna) may be the true bodybuilder in the family, as she took the overall women's championship and Miss Long Island Figure over the same weekend.

Event 11: Some Senior Moments

$260 + $40 Seniors No Limit Hold'em

Greg Uzoaga (Brooklyn, NY) and Event 9 Third-Place Winner Terry O'Brien

Hollis Ball (Peabody, MA) with Vinny and Darcey

Registration is now closed for this event, and we will post the payouts as soon as all of the numbers are calculated.  The blinds are currently 200/400/50 and a chip average just at 15k, players are taking a ten minute break.  While we were waiting, we had a chance to meet some of our field, and they really are some great people.

Event 10: Wick-ed Good Run

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Jeff Wicker

Jeff Wicker (Bristol, PA) is no stranger to these events at the Borgata, and after bubbling Event 1 is hoping for a deeper run today.  He sits with about 55k, and with the blinds at 400/800/75, seems to be setting himself up nicely.

Event 7: First to Cash, First to One Million

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Alwan's Poker Face

On the bubble, Harry Korotki (Owings Mills, MD) and Khalded Alwan (Wayne, NJ) are in a big hand.

Blinds 5k/10k/1k ante

Korotki (370k)
Alwan (700k)

From middle position, Korotki raises to 24k and Alwan calls from the BB.

Flop: Q 8 2

Korotki bets 30k
Alwan calls

Turn: Q

Korotki bets 50k
Alwan calls

River: 9

There's an all in and call for Korotki's last 265k.

Alwan: 9 9 (full house)
Korotki: A Q (trip queens)

Korotki is surprised his trips are a loser and says, "I can't believe you kept calling my bets."

"I didn't believe you had a queen," replies a sheepish Alwan, who is now the first player to reach 1 million chips.

For Kortoki, he's the first to cash as he earns $731 for his 72nd place finish.

Alwan, Million Chip Man

Event 7: Bubble Breaks

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

"DonkFish" Breaks Bubble

Play is hand-for-hand when Tom McGarry (Hazlet, NJ) is all in with pocket 4s for 150k.  Alik "DonkFish" Sitnyakovsky (Brooklyn, NY) wins the coin flip with A K and sends McGarry to the rail just before money.

McGarry almost gets a reprieve when there's a knockout on another table, but when Harry Korotki (Owings Mills, MD) has more chips and is officially the first player to cash with a 72nd place finish ($731).

Unfortunately for McGarry he's 73rd and only gets two days of memories and experience as the bubble boy.

"What are you going to do," he says, there's always another tournament.

Event 7: Queens Hold x 3

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

As the field speeds towards the money we see three straight hands were pocket queens hold and a short stack is eliminated.

Danny Santiago starts it off with QQ vs Q2.
Then two tables over Bob Taylor's QQ holds against 9 4
Finally, back at Santiago's table, Mike Tasker sweats with QQ vs JJ when his opponent picks up a straight draw, but Tasker's hand is good.

The three knockouts set the field at 78, six from the money.

Start of Day 2 chip leader Gregory Shvarts is the first player to crack 700k.

Event 7: Back from Break

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

90 players remain with an average stack of 206k (35 BB) as we're 18 spots from the money.

The four big stacks are all around 550k and includes Barry Leventhal, Khaled Alwan, Gregory Shvarts and Buyng Yoo.

Leventhal has been on a hot streak picking up pocket aces four times (twice witnessed by the Gorilla)!

Play resumes with blinds at 3k/6k/500 ante.

Event 10: Registration Closed

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

On a busy day of the Borgata Summer Poker Open has everyone in the Poker Room hustling.  Dealers, Floor Associates, Borgata Babes and even the players are moving and shaking (table breaks, re-entries, late reg.).

First order of business is to announce that the re-entry period of the six-max is closed.

Players must now play without a safety net. No more gambling or bouncing back from bad beats, when your out, your out.

Level 5 (150/300/25 ante) is underway.

Event 11: Lost & Hopefully Found

$260 + $40 Seniors No Limit Hold'em

Nancy on Sunday Before Pen Was Lost

One of the nicest players at Borgata needs your help.  Nancy Martin (Washington Crossing, PA) is extremely upset that she's misplaced a personalized silver Cross pen that she got as a gift 25 years ago.

The pen was last scene doing good deeds Sunday on Day 1A of Event 7 ($350 + $50) at Table 1 located near the Racebook.

Nancy, who is currently playing in the Senior's event, has her name engraved on the clip and the bloggers are offering a small reward if the pen is returned unharmed with no questions asked.

If the pen is located you can turn it into Borgata security or stop by Media Row and we'll make sure Nancy gets it back.

Thank you for keeping an eye out for it!

Event 7: Barry's Barrage of Bullets

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Leventhal Stands Waiting for Klaus (2nd from right) to Decide
(l-r) Cuong Phung (Atlantic City, NJ),
Romaine Lewis (Orange, NJ) & Moy Watch as Well

Twice in four hands Barry Leventhal (Brooklyn, NY) gets pocket aces and he's 1 and 1 on the day.

First he doubles up short stack Stephen Moy (New York, NY) who cracks Leventhal's aces.

Three hands later, Raymond Palmieri (Vineland, NJ) moves all in for 96k. Leventhal calls which sends Robert Klaus (Flushing, NY) into the tank.

Klaus who is the shorter of the three players folds and is glad when he sees Leventhal with aces again.  This time they hold and Palmieri's out when his pocket 9s don't connect.

The next exchange adds 37k to Leventhal's stack and he's now up to more than 200k.

Event 11: Golden Oldies

$260 + $40 Seniors No Limit Hold'em

The most seasoned and easy going players in the world are here to play in one of the more relaxed tournaments of the Borgata Summer Poker Open.  Hoodies and earphones are replaced with sweaters and hearing aids, but it's still NL Texas Hold'em.

Players start with 12k in chips and levels are 30 minutes each.

This is a one day tournament, but there's no truth to the rumor that the Senior's dinner break will be at 4 pm.

Event 7: Grind Time

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

 Shvarts Starts on Top

The longest grind of the day kicks off in the next few minutes with 130 players returning for their shot at the $58,443 first prize.

The top 72 cash in this event, so the short stacks will be looking to hold on while the big stacks jockey for position heading towards the final table.

Gregory Shvarts (Brooklyn, NY) returns as chip leader with 420k. He and Marcus Nguyen (Clayton, NJ) with 349k were the top two stacks from Day 1B, while Mark Gomez (New Rochelle, NY) led Day 1A with 345k.

The average stack is 143k (29 BB) as Day 2 begins with Level 16 (2,500/5k/500 ante).

Event 10: Practice Makes Perfect

$350 + $50 Six-Max Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

 All Smiles for Saladin

Two players in the field got a warm up with a cash in last night's 7 pm version of the same event.

Ted Geier (Sunnyside, NY) and Rob Saladin (Chester, NY) were both at the final table and back looking for an even bigger score.

****12:30 Update****

Saladin has busted and is using his re-entry, something he didn't need Monday night.
