Event 6 Recap

$260 + $40 Pot Limit Omaha 8B

When the final hand was played in the wee hours Sunday morning, Sean Ketter (Chesapeake, VA) had all the chips, $7,591, and the shiny new Borgata Summer Open trophy.  Quite an accomplishment when you consider that this is his first ever live tournament of any kind.

Ketter learned how to play poker in the Navy.  "That's what we do when we have free time".  He's been discharged and now works for a private military contractor.  Ketter is headed home today, so will leave with his perfect record intact.

Second place went to Andy Blum (Brigantine, NJ) along with $4,121.  Blum plays mostly cash games and fills his time with poker when not working at his other job as a software engineer.  He loves all the games and plans to play the $100,000 Guaranteed $350 Deep Stack Double Play tomorrow, then the Omaha H/L and HORSE events.

Carolyn Dejesu (Huntington, NY) was the last woman in this event and she claimed third place, good for $2,603.  She's been playing poker as long as she can remember and plays all the games.  "I'm good at everything" she says.  Regarding this event, she felt she played a solid game, but after midnight, she felt a bit "delirious".

A total of 86 players in this event generated total buy-ins of $22,360.  The final nine earned a piece of the prize pool.  Among those entries were Borgata regulars Gil Sacks, Michael Farahnick, Gloria Lorusso , George Medrano, and Leonardo Palermo.  None of these familiar faces made the money.

Robert Melo (Howard Beach, NY) made two Summer Open final tables in two days, finishing 5th in event 4 and 8th in event 3.  He went for the three-peat in this event, but busted out early in the day.

"Pot Limit Omaha High/Low is the best game" third-place finisher Carolyn Dejesu said, "even though it is hard to find."  The best things in life usually are.
