Event 7 Recap

$350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

After two long days of play, Jordan Ludwick conquered the $350 + $50 Deep Stack Double Play NLH event, earning himself $58,443.  He was supposed to start his job working in a restaurant this week, but instead came here for the Borgata Summer Poker Open.  Now he's rethinking his career choice.

Aleksandr Rapoport (Brooklyn, NY) was the runner-up in the event.  He started day two 53rd of 130 returning players and managed to hang on all the way to second place.  He'll pick up $34,008, his first-ever reported tournament cash.

The most accomplished of the final three was Ben Butler, who came to the final table with a dominating chip lead.  Butler finished 3rd in the $350 No Limit event in the 2010 Borgata Poker Open, good for over $26,000.

Butler's luck turned when Ludwick flopped a flush against his pocket 3s and got all-in.  Ludwick doubled up and despite battling back several times, Butler couldn't overcome the chip deficit.  He earned $20,782 for his third place finish.

Over two starting days, a total of 742 entries were made, generating total buy-ins of $259,700.  The final 72 players earned a piece of the prize pool.

46 players survived play on day 1A and they were combined with 84 survivors on day 1B, making a total of 130 players returning for day two.

Start of day two chip leader Gregory Shvarts (Brooklyn, NY) made the final table, eventually busting in 5th place for $13,855.

2006 WSOP Circuit Champion Rick Rossetti (Ventnor, NJ) also made the final table, finishing 7th ($9,069) when he lost a race with AQ against pocket 9s, after his pocket Queens took a bad beat from pocket 8s.

Many Borgata tournament regulars cashed in this event, including 3-time Borgata Open titleist Howard Wolper (Atlantic City, NJ) who finished 66th for $731.

Jordan Ludwick recalls a hand early on day one when his pocket Aces held up against Borgata regular James Boyle's pocket Kings.  That early hand helped propel him to then end of day one.  After the key hand where he flopped a flush against Ben Butler at the final table, he knew he was going to win.  He went to the rail and told his friend "I'm going to win it all".  And he did.
