Neiman Knows Nuts
Phil Neiman (Flushing, NY) can't believe his luck on the first hand he's dealt in the tournament. He plays 7 9 from the big blind and after a check-check on the flop and small bet on the turn, Neiman hits his gin card on the river for the nut straight.
"I over bet the pot for 5k," he says, "the guy moves all in and I had to do a double take to make sure I didn't miss something. I said okay, 'sorry buddy,' I have the nuts'."
A clearly frustrated opponent tables pocket aces for a flopped set and is surprised that the 6 8 10 board sends him straight to the rail.
Neiman is up to 42k as players are heading to their first break of the day.
