Dibella's Head Scratcher
The beauty of poker is that the cards don't know if you're a professional or a first timer, local or international, high-roller or scraping to get by. Anyone who puts up the entry fee has an equal shot at taking home the big money.
Take John Dibella (New York, NY) for example, the newly minted millionaire after his win in the 2012 PCA Champion doesn't mean much in today's action at Borgata.
On a board of A 8 2, he's thrilled when an 8 hits the board to give Dibella trips, but gives up in disgust when a second ace falls on the river.
Before folding Dibella flashes an eight for the under boat and knows his opponent held an ace for aces full of eights.
"If it's not an ace, I hope to get all her chips," he says to the table.
Dibella is no professional, but the New York day-trader was thrilled that he added nearly $2 million to his bankroll while merely dabbling in poker.
And the game rolls on.
